Age of Sigmar What to Purchase After Soul Wars

While I am very much enjoying building all my Soul Wars box minis and reading the Core Book for Age of Sigmar 2nd Edition the pull of new purchases is being felt. As ever with a big Games Workshop release there has been a steady stream of new model kits being unleashed for both the Stormcast Eternals and the Nighthaunt. There are new hero characters, new basic units and lots of cool stuff in between. It is enough to bankrupt anyone!

Thankfully I am being a bit more sensible in my approach to Age of Sigmar so from the many new and shiny things I want to buy I have ended up going for the more cost effective option and one little extra.

Storm StrikeComing in at a tidy £25 is the Storm Strike box. Featuring a small collection of minis for both the Stormcast Eternals and Nighthaunt. Along with a copy of the core rules, mini guide, warscroll cards (which are always appreciated), rulers, dice and a double sided playing mat. The box also doubles up as a piece of scenery, very blocky scenery but still scenery! While there is more plastic packed in the Tempest of Souls box for £50 which would add multiple units to my growing armies. I’m going for the Storm Strike box for three simple reasons:

  1. It is cheaper than the Tempest of Souls
  2. The miniatures included are either alternate sculpts to what is available in the Soul Wars and Tempest of Souls boxes or entirely new units.
  3. It is a lot cheaper than buying all the easy to build packs for the included units separately (£40 for £25!)

Stormcast Eternal Sequitors

Worth buying for the badass sculpt of the female Sequitor alone. These will fill out the Sequitor unit from the Soul Wars box nicely and give me some models that will stand out amongst the rank and file.

Stormcast Eternals Castigators with Gryph-hound

Similar to the Sequitors these guys will fill out the Castigator unit I already have and give me access to a lovely Gryph-hound to play with. It’s just so majestic!

Nighthaunt Glaivewraith Stalkers

I love the lore of the Glaivewraith Stalkers so adding more to my collection is very welcome. There is also the added bonus of the one wielding the war drum which allows me to use more abilities in combat. So YAY!

Nighthaunt Myrmourn Banshees

These banshees are the new unit for me in the box. They are just amazing sculpts that I can’t wait to get to the table. They have just the right mix of creepy and cool.

All good additions to my Stormcast and Nighthaunt armies without breaking the bank too much.

Getting Started With Warhammer Age of Sigmar

This is the little extra I’m getting because it is £5 for a handy reference magazine, another copy of the core rules and a Knight-Incantor miniature. Which adds another much needed wizard to my Stormcast army. Plus he is a badass looking grumpy old man so WIN WIN!
